As a part of my Art 175 class in Fall of 2023, I was given the option to be a part of a class exhibition in the San Jose State's Black Gallery. The only direction we were given was that the piece would need to involve language in some regard. How it did so was completely up to artisAt interpretation. My piece, Forgotten History, integrated text in a much subtler way to convey its message. By using artificial intelligence denoising built into the Blender rendering engine, I could slowly distort the appearance of the footage I had modeled and animated to simulate the slow decomposition similar to a neurological disorder such as dementia. The models themselves are simply in design and texture, aiming for a late 1990s game feeling in order to instill a feeling that what's on screen is not as it should be.
The video was displayed via projector in the Black Gallery at San Jose State University through November of 2023. Below is the full film I created in its entirety, which was shown in the "Beyond Words" Black Gallery exhibition held on campus at San Jose State University.
